Oily Skin

Oily skin is the result of an exaggerated and uncontrolled production of sebum by the sebaceous glands, tiny anatomical structures located in the deep dermis. At first glance, oily skin appears shiny and oily, sometimes even dehydrated. Its complexion is rather dull and, to the touch, it is irregular in the texture, unctuous and rough. In this type of skin, the hydrolipidic film becomes thicker and more waxy, so much so as to hinder transpiration and encourage the activity of microorganisms responsible for inflammation and bad odors. As if that were not enough, oily skin tends to have clearly dilated pores and scars left by acne; moreover, seborrheic skin is much more prone to redness than dry or normal skin.
