Miloon Sunscreen Guide – Part 1.

Hello everyone!

Summer is around the corner. It’s time to prepare our skin for the sun. This is a right chance to explain you in a proper way what is sunscreen and why it is so important.

For Korean women, sunscreen is not an option, it is a crucial step in the skincare routine. Even if you follow a good skincare routine, but not applying sunscreen, you are missing a key to healthy skin.

Sunscreen is effective in preventing skin cancer as well as short term and long term damage to the skin . To help you understand more about sunscreen, here is the Sunscreen Guide Part 1.

What is Sunscreen?

Sunscreen protects the skin from UV (Ultraviolet) rays. UV rays from the sun can cause premature wrinkles, pigmentation and dull skin.

What is the difference between UVA and UVB?

“A” in UVA stands for Aging.

UVA penetrates deeper layers of the dermis and can cause premature aging. Long term exposure to UV radiation increases the formation of free radicals. As a result, they cause extensive damage both physically and internally.

“B” in UVB stands for Burning.

UVB rays generally burn the outer, superficial layers of the skin. These rays are the ones that play a strong part in the formation of skin cancer. So, it’s important to adequately protect yourself from them.

What does SPF mean?

SPF stands for “Sun Protection Factor”. These sunscreen numbers explain their ability to deflect UVB rays. An SPF 30 allows about 3 percent of UVB rays to hit your skin ( it provides 97% blockage). An SPF of 50 allows about 2 percent of those rays through( it provides 98% blockage). Keep in mind that SPF only refers to protection from UVB rays. Using higher SPF sunscreen protects us from UVA/UVB, but does not stop us getting tanned.

How do I choose the best sunscreen for my skin?

It is important to choose the right sunscreen for your skin that protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Neogen “UV Defense Long-lasting Protector” is one of them. It has a lightweight, water-based formula that provides effective UV protecting. With its SPF 50 it prevents the formation of dark spots and discoloration. It creates a fresh moisture veil for smooth coverage, but doesn’t leave any uncomfortable, sticky texture.

In the next Sunscreen Guide Part 2, we will discuss about main reasons why we have to use sunscreen regularly and what is the benefit from using it! We are also going to tell you why Korean sunscreens are one of the best on the market. In the meantime, always make sure that you apply sunscreen regularly and meticulously!
