Welcome back to exfoliation guide part 3. If you missed the previous guide, have a look at Miloon Exfoliation Guide Part 1 and Part 2 here.

It is not a secret that exfoliation routine will leave our skin looking fresh and clean.  We like to think it as the key to a healthy, glowing complexion.

But as we said before, you should be careful not to over exfoliate. Too much of a good thing can sometimes be bad. When  over doing you’re also getting rid of the healthy skin cells. Over exfoliating will leave your skin red, irritated and damaged.
Keep reading to find out how to repair your skin after over-exfoliating.

Sign of over exfoliation.

Looking Puffy: Over exfoliation makes skin look puffy or swollen. It causes inflammation and increases sensitivity. It can also damage skin’s natural lipid barrier overtime.

Breaks out: When you over exfoliate, your skin’s barrier breaks down. That means your skin allows bacteria in. Avoiding breakouts’s painful imperfections should be a reason enough not to over exfoliate. Never ever.

Shinning forehead: If your forehead is looking shiny stop exfoliating immediately. Light reflects because skin’s natural texture got smoothened up by over exfoliation.

Dry and tight skin: When you don’t exfoliate in a proper way, skin loses its natural oil. You can experience low oil level even if your skin is an oily type; this will make it tight and uncomfortable.

HOW TO REPAIR.

TONER.

Use a toner to calm and nourish your skin.

A toner is always the perfect companion to balance skin’s pH level. Klairs “Supple Preparation Toner” is the perfect solution to consider. It is rich in  healing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, betaglucans and aloe. It helps soothe and hydrate skin while reducing inflammation and redness.

SHEET MASK.

Using a sheet mask is another great way to recover and soothe skin. Often they have cooling effect to calm our skin from irritation. Our suggest you to try Missha “Pure Source Green Tea” and “Aloe” masks. Both green tea and aloe work great in calming inflamed skin and soothing and hydrating irritated skin. This is exactly what our skin needs after over exfoliation.

MOISTURIZER.

After exfoliating, it is important to use a calming and hydrating moisturizer. The Klairs “Midnight Blue Calming Cream” works well for hydrating and relieving redness. Ingredients extracted from chamomile oil and centella asiatica calms and soothe the skin. It will repair skin damage and keep our skin moisturized.

Exfoliating is a fundamental part of every skincare routine, but it is important to do it in the right way. Always remember to balance your skin so you can avoid the skin damages.
