What is acne.

Acne refers to a skin concern that, in some circumstances and for precise reasons, can produce excess sebum. Science says the gland associated with the follicle’s hair allows an excessive production of this fat and greasy liquid. This excess goes to clog and inflames the skin’s pores. These inflammations are the actual acne and they can take the form of pimples, black spots, red spots and dilated capillaries; that latter is the case of acne rosacea. Although acne mostly appears on face, bubbles and pimples can also appear on neck, shoulders and other parts of the body.

Causes of acne.

The main causes of acne can be:

Hormonal changes

  • Genetic factors
  • Stress
  • Bacteria
  • Supplement, drugs or medications.

Generally, acne is linked to hormonal changes. This is why many adolescents tend to develop it in a rather aggressive way. Genetic predisposition to acne is the first important factor that should not be underestimated. In fact this concern I hereditary: it means it is passed over generation by parents to children. Basically, tis explains why those whose parents did not develop acne in their youth will tend not to suffer from it.

Sometimes acne could be an indicator of an ongoing infection taking place in the body. This is the case of acne fro bacterial origin. This take place when the immune system can’t stop bacteria naturally proliferating on the epidermis, when they are able to penetrate deeply on to the skin to infect it.

Even the environment in which we live in, can be a major cause of acne. For example this is deeply connected to atmosphere pollution. In fact, very often some dust particles in the air, settle on the skin. If not removed in an efficient way, and help to obstruct and inflame the hair’s follicle. In one of our blog post we discussed Antipolluaging by Blithe. This consists in a line of different products that is able to contrast the effects of pollution while fighting skin ageing.

Same thing happens when using cosmetics that employs aggressive chemical ingredients. What happen will tend to clog the skin pores, generating inflammation, eventually leading pimples to show up.

Last but not least: acne can temporarily appear when following such treatments based on drugs, medications or supplements. It is the case of folic acid (B9) or cyanocobalamin (B12) and cortisone supplements. In addition, a diet extremely rich in vitamin B12 and foods of animal origin.

Acne: everyday sneaky agents.

So, with the exception of the hormone-due one, acne deeply reflects our lifestyle of this unpleasant alarm bell. In fact, Acne can arise from hidden pitfalls in the everyday objects we meet during our routine. It is necessary to be aware of these sneaky threats. This is not because we can therefore avoid them, but also because we often tend to attribute these imperfections to more serious causes. In the table below, we breakdown the causes and remedies.
